Evangelical Movement of Wales
Digital resources to help young people grow in their love of Jesus
For young people in Wales, there is a great need for faithful, accessible and engaging gospel content: produced by and for Welsh people, in the Welsh language.
The Evangelical Movement of Wales approached us to develop the brand identity for a new app, Lumina, which has been developed to meet this need. The brief was both exciting and challenging: to deliver a dynamic, digital-first visual system that would help put faithful gospel content in front of thousands of young people in Wales and beyond.
We worked closely with EMW’s team to understand the key requirements and structure of the app. The visual system needed to be versatile enough to present information in both English and Welsh, and flexible enough to accommodate text, video and audio content spanning four categories: Life, Stories, Big Questions and Bible.
We developed a visual identity centred on a striking logo icon that represented Lumina’s mission: bursting with light, truth and life. The icon is formed of four vibrant colours drawn from the brand palette, identifying the four key areas of the app: yellow for Life, magenta for Stories, orange for Big Questions and blue for Bible. The contemporary serif used in the logo mark is complemented by a clean and accessible sans serif font that invites the user to engage with the app content. We also developed a set of UI icons to help provide a consistent and familiar experience throughout the app, while being flexible enough to accommodate a variety of content types and styles.
